Ok - so for some reason people like to comment about makeup... like A LOT. Men. Women. Children. Old people. EVERYONE has an opinion on makeup.

A friend recently posted a photo of herself and the caption was merely her expressing how good it felt to have clear skin - that's it. Like - literally. And one of the comments on said photo was ""That crap covers your real beauty."

Uuuuuh - hold on a minute?! First - I work in that industry of "crap" you so boldly speak about - it is not crap. It is wonderful, beautiful, encouraging, and for heavens sake gives people confidence. Whether it's simply washing your face twice a day ( PLEASE do it twice a day), adding a dash of mascara or full on glam - that "crap" is helping people.

Secondly - how dare someone say that the product you used to clear your skin, that product that gave you confidence to go out and be yourself, is covering up your real beauty? Uhm, no sir. You're wrong.

Since said friend probably wouldn't want me using her photos - let's use mine shall we?


 

Ok - so these photos were taken the same day (please excuse my sun burn). The one on the left is after I had just worked out - no makeup - notta. The one on the right has my normal amount of makeup of of course, is not a sweaty mess.

Now - I personally don't think that's a dramatic difference and the one on the right certainly doesn't "cover up" my beauty. It simply accentuates what I want structurally on my face.

I personally, see beauty is someone's eyes and not because of the mascara - but because they sparkle with life and light and joy. The way someone laughs is their beauty, they way the make jokes, the way they are passionate about things. THAT is what makes someone beautiful - and I don't think some makeup or skin care line is gonna cover that up.

Have you ever had an internal battle in your mind? Like - it almost feels so real?

A new semester has started at BYU-Idaho and while I'm not in school, Dalin is. Which means that we very much live our lives in 3 1/2 month increments. And with a new semester - comes a new routine.

Yes, you read that correctly. Evelynn is turning ONE is just a few short weeks! I can't believe it! She is the spunkiest baby I've met. She is seriously, all over the place. I remember when I found out I was pregnant. I really do wish it was a sweet moment - but it was more like panic ran through me.

And now here we are - 9 grueling months later I had a baby - and I can't believe she's gonna be one!

Hey friends! Thanks for coming back to my blog and learning about me and my family. I've gotten a lot of questions about how I got started in Mary Kay.

So now that that's taken care of: I'll let you briefly know how I got started in Mary Kay.
I was working in Real Estate building a new real estate training program for a business in Idaho Falls. Due to circumstances, I had to be laid off. But we had just found out that we were expecting. My earth shattered. In fact, I cried the entire drive home (45 minutes!) and told my husband the news. My husband is a full time student - and we couldn't really have him leaving school to get a full time job. (We wanted to leave as soon as possible, haha.)

So, at that time Mary Kay came into my life - but I still wasn't very sure about it. So I decided to get a second "temporary" job working again in real estate. Well a year later I was still working that "temporary" job and not really working on Mary Kay.

I was HATING my life. I was never home to see my daughter, my husband and I were stressed out all the time because I was gone so much and things just weren't in harmony in our house. So, after lots of praying and consideration to the financial situation - I quit my job and decided to do Mary Kay full time.

I wanted to be with my daughter and watch her grow up - instead of paying someone else to do it. I wanted to be a better wife and mom, but I couldn't do that because of the time requirements my job had.

So, 6 months later, Mary Kay is going strong. The work isn't any "easier" per say, because this is my lively hood, but I'm now able to work hours that are more flexible for me and my family. We're wrapping up earning our first free car in Mary Kay and I couldn't be more excited!!

So, that's how I got started. Interesting how God plays a hand in our lives huh? I never thought in my entire life that I would own my own business teaching skin care and cosmetic techniques, but I'm so glad I am.

Ok, so I have this great friend names MaLynn. She introduced me to clean eating and I LOVE IT. Seriously, it's incredible. I have more energy, I'm not bloated all the time, and I just feel good!

Even though I really like clean eating, I have struggles. As MaLynn says "sometimes you just REALLY want that doughnut." I love sweets. It's a curse. But I really do love them. So when those cravings kick in.... I literally have to lock myself in my office or upstairs and drink water until it's gone - other wise I'll eat a bazillion cookies. Because for some reason my body thinks I need them... NEEDS THEM. It's terrible.

Since clean eating, the sugar "need" has gone way down. Day 4 was the worst. But I'm doing better.... Until Dalin brings home Taco Bell and then suddenly I'm a ravenous baboon. Trying to get everyone on board with clean eating is hard - especially when your spouse really likes stuff that isn't good for him - or when you beg him to get you chocolate and he does (even though you've said to ignore you when you beg).

Sigh.

I'd love clean eating recipes that you have! Especially anything with meat or resembles meat (you know, for the mr.)

Hopefully by summer, we'll see the pay off of clean eating - at least I will. As long as I avoid Taco Bell.... and all of Main Street for that matter. Haha!

I just wanted to share this video by Oprah ( I really love her). The power of thought intrigues me. I truly do believe that what you think, you'll manifest in your life. I chose a word at the start of 2015 that would represent what I'm about this year. The word I chose is BOLD. I need to do things with a bit more *oomph* if you know what I mean.
